  Common communication problems experienced by people with dementia and their environment.

 Myths about AAC in dementia ("new skills can't be taught").

 How to connect/start an interaction with individuals with dementia.

 Use AAC to:

o   to work on a memory/life book;

o   to help them orient themselves in their environment / to clarify their daily activities.

to   help them express what they can no longer do with spoken language.

 Use of modeling and other partner strategies in dementia and when to start. AAC assessment in individuals with dementia; how can we find out what works for this adult, taking into account that their (cognitive) abilities will regress?
